DREW
MAILLARD grew up in America in the last quarter of the 20th century.
His childhood years were spent with G.I. Joes, cartoons and doing what
he was told. Or else. In those touching after school specials you watched,
he was the fat kid's geeky best friend.
His
adolescence was divided between comic books, horror and sci-fi films and
fantasizing about girls he didn't talk to. Also there was punk rock and
L.S.D. Upon completing his primary education, he attended the School of
Visual Arts in NYC because it seamed like it would be marginally less
painful and depressing than pursuing alcoholism in his home town. He received
his Bachelor Of Fine Arts degree in 2000 and has shown his drawings and
prints at alternative art spaces on the East Coast and Europe.
Maillard
spent some time in the army, and enjoys distractions such as studying
jui-jitsu and scuba diving. He earns his living as a carpenter for an
art shipping company, where he sometimes comes into close contact with
original pieces by some of his art heroes such as R. Crumb and Robert
Williams.
Maillard
works in an originally distinctive style, which he creates by cross hatching
with the fervor with which clinically diagnosed O.C.D. sufferers wash
their hands!
He
also claims to be good friends with the creator/spokesdemon of international
super group DETHRACE, Though they have never been seen in public together...
