The Art of Tattoos at MF Gallery

Tattoos,
which originated thousands of years ago, were introduced to the
Western world in the 1700's, and were always considered taboo.
Through the years, they have gained popularity and can now be
found on at least one person you know, if not even on your own
body! Tattoo imagery has also infiltrated the world of pop culture
and fashion. Although Tattooing and Underground Art have always
been linked, the Art of Tattooing is now finally being considered
a respectable art form by the world at large.

Gallery's "Tattoo Show" is an homage to this ancient
art form and its reflection in modern culture. The show includes
Tattoo Flash, Paintings, Drawings and Prints by a group of International
Artists, some of whom (Angelique
Houtkamp, Rodrigo Melo, Morg, Anna Semenova
+ more) are also Tattoo Artists, and others (Mitch
O'Connell, Joe Simko, Riot Queer, Angie Mason, El-Rana, Drew Maillard,
Macchiavello, Frank Russo, Martina Secondo Russo, Cecilia Granata,
Massimo Gurnari +
more) who were chosen because their work is influenced by the
imagery and lifestyle of the tattoo world.

the Fifth of September from 7pm until 10pm.
Come meet the artists and see lots of Tattoo Art, both on the
walls and surely on many of the guests’ skin!!

galleries, opened a location in Genova, Italy in January 2009.
The upstairs floor of MF Gallery Genova holds the semi-permanent

tatuaggi, che esistono da migliaia di anni, sono stati introdotti
nel mondo Occidentale nel 1700, e fin dall’ora sono sempre
stati considerati taboo. Atraverso gli anni hanno pero` guadagnato
popolarita` e sicuramente ai giorni nostri ne puoi trovare sul
corpo di qualche tuo conscente, se non, addirittura su te stesso!
Le particolari immagini dei tatuaggi si sono anche infiltrate
recentemente nel mondo della cultura pop e della moda. Pur essendo
da tempo collegata con l’arte Underground, il Tatuaggio
e’ ora finalmente rispettato come una forma di arte indipendente.
“L’Arte
Del Tattoo” di MF Gallery e’ un omaggio a questa antica
arte e al suo riflesso nella cultura moderna. Lo show include
Tattoo Flash, dipinti, disegni e stampe di un gruppo di artisti
internazionali, alcuni dei quali (Angelique

+ altri) lavorano come tatuatori. Altri (Mitch

siete invitati al Party di Apertura, dove potrete incontrare gli
artisti e vedere molti esempi di arte del tatuaggio, sia sulle
pareti della galleria che sulla pelle di parecchi ospiti!
